A glucometer comes in various sizes.  Some of the newest models are quite small and compact.  These are ideal for taking with you every day and for traveling.  The small size meters can easily slip into a pocket, purse, or briefcase.  The size of the display will be small on the small sized meters.  If you have trouble reading it, consider a larger one or opt for a model that gives the information audibly. How to Choose a Blood Glucose Meter

If you have type I diabetes you must check your blood glucose very often.  This can be cumbersome, particularly if you don’t have the latest equipment.  The most important part of the diabetes care kit is the blood glucose meter.  This is a handheld device that takes current readings of the glucose level in your body.  There are some things to consider when choosing a meter.

The size of the meter is one thing to consider.  The smaller sized meters are easier to transport and will fit easily into a handbag or briefcase.  Larger sized meters are easier to read, making them ideal for those with poor eyesight. Some meters have backlights that make reading them easier in all types of situations.  Other meters may even provide audio results.   Keep in mind that the size of the screen is the most important part of the size of the diabetes meter.
